Here's a peek at what I'm currently working on in the studio. Sorry about the crummy pictures, but the light is pretty strong coming in through the doors today. Nice warm sun! I'm looking forward to the warmer weather this weekend. Maybe I can actually get a ride in one day.
Inspired by all things natural, my subjects are always made by God, not man. Mostly a self-taught artist, I have been painting and drawing since I was a little girl. To me art is a passion, and when I’m not working on it, I’m thinking about it. The process of creating a beautiful portrait from something as simple as a pencil, or a stick of pastel, and a piece of paper is magical. From baby smooth skin to weathered and aged, or even furry, faces are intriguing. No matter how many times I look at a face, there is always something new to see. Graphite and charcoal allow the artist the exploration of technicality and contrast. I also enjoy pastels, acrylics and water-miscible oils. Although realism is important, it is not as important as capturing the feeling and personality of the subjects.
