Up On the Board

Here's a peek at what I'm currently working on in the studio. Sorry about the crummy pictures, but the light is pretty strong coming in through the doors today. Nice warm sun! I'm looking forward to the warmer weather this weekend. Maybe I can actually get a ride in one day.

Another Christmas Commission

Here's another commission done for Christmas. Since the family has no photos where both mom and dad look great in the same shot (you know how that goes, so often one just isn't ready when the shot is taken), the daughters went in on a portrait of their parents. They gave me several photos from which I created a beautiful portrait of the two of them together.

KC

Now that the holiday's are over, I'm finally getting back to normal, and I can post those Christmas commissions. WAHOOO! This one is KC, a working rescue dog in Hagerstown, MD. She has a wonderful personality and an even more fantastic owner/trainer. These dogs are so impressive. I was honored to be chosen to create her portrait.

Obviously, she's not available, as she was commissioned.

So Others Might Live

I received a letter in the mail yesterday that brought me to tears. It came from VirginiaTech to inform me that my vet, Rose Hill Veterinary Practice - Large Animal, made a monetary donation to the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in Lovey's name. This will be added to their Veterinary Memorial Fund which supports "scientific investigation into common, yet vexing, companion animal health problems". What a wonderful thing to do. It's just one more example of how much my vet cares about each and every animal it treats. I love Rose Hill.

I offer a very heartfelt Thank You to both Rose Hill and VMRCVM.

Deck The Stalls

Ok, I've been off for two weeks and still accomplished so little artwork. Still working on Christmas commissions. I hope to finish them this week so I can start to play again.

I love to create signs and things, so I decided to create a sign for my barn. I like the simplicity of it. However, instead of hanging it in my barn where no one will get to see it, I decided to hang it tomorrow at Royal Horseshoe Farm down the road where more people can enjoy it. I think it will be beautiful with a few sprigs or pine or cedar slipped through the twine between words. Of course, it's available for $50.00.

Acrylic on wood with twine, jingle bell, and horseshoes.
Measures about 20"w x 24" h.

Sunrise Shell

I've been working on a Christmas commission, so I can't show you what I've been doing. At least not yet. LOL So, here's a shell I did immediately after I watched the sun rise across the Point in OBX while Brent surf fished. The colors were absolutely amazing, and I'll have to do something with the pictures I took that day too. But for now, here's the shell.

This is 8" x 6" Derwent Drawing Pencils on Strathmore paper and is available for $75.00. I will add it to my website soon.

Until next week y'all, take care.
