So Others Might Live

I received a letter in the mail yesterday that brought me to tears. It came from VirginiaTech to inform me that my vet, Rose Hill Veterinary Practice - Large Animal, made a monetary donation to the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in Lovey's name. This will be added to their Veterinary Memorial Fund which supports "scientific investigation into common, yet vexing, companion animal health problems". What a wonderful thing to do. It's just one more example of how much my vet cares about each and every animal it treats. I love Rose Hill.

I offer a very heartfelt Thank You to both Rose Hill and VMRCVM.

Deck The Stalls

Ok, I've been off for two weeks and still accomplished so little artwork. Still working on Christmas commissions. I hope to finish them this week so I can start to play again.

I love to create signs and things, so I decided to create a sign for my barn. I like the simplicity of it. However, instead of hanging it in my barn where no one will get to see it, I decided to hang it tomorrow at Royal Horseshoe Farm down the road where more people can enjoy it. I think it will be beautiful with a few sprigs or pine or cedar slipped through the twine between words. Of course, it's available for $50.00.

Acrylic on wood with twine, jingle bell, and horseshoes.
Measures about 20"w x 24" h.

Sunrise Shell

I've been working on a Christmas commission, so I can't show you what I've been doing. At least not yet. LOL So, here's a shell I did immediately after I watched the sun rise across the Point in OBX while Brent surf fished. The colors were absolutely amazing, and I'll have to do something with the pictures I took that day too. But for now, here's the shell.

Sunrise Shell

This is 8" x 6" Derwent Drawing Pencils on Strathmore paper and is available for $75.00. I will add it to my website soon.

Until next week y'all, take care.

Love's Magic

Thank you so much for all your kind words. I received a wonderful poem dedicated to Love that I would love to share with you, and with it I'm reposting Into the Kingdom with a few tweaks here and there recommended by my youngest. I will miss her forever.

Love's Magic

When you left me, my heart brok
e in two,
A half for me, a half for you.
That half I will keep forever in my heart,
Wishing and wishing we didn't have to part.

The pictures I will keep
In memory of you.
So big, so nice,
And wonderful to view.

The time has come for me to let you go
My love for you continues to show.

We'll meet again some day, it's just a questions of when,
But Never Where.

In the pictures your face and mine are a pair
So many good memories we both have to share.
I'll never forget you, not now or ever.

I think of you in every way
In the day's, week or years
The magic of Love will always be here.

Into The Kingdom

It's been a really tough week. We had to say goodbye to our 18hh Percheron mare, Love, despite 36 hours in the field fighting to get her back on her feet. I've been completely miserable and decided to my feelings into a piece. Art Therapy at it's best.

Into The Kingdom

It measures 24" x 18" on Mi Tientes paper.

Of course, it is available for $350. Prints are also available on my website.

Trying my hand at Blogging

Hey Everyone! Since I'm always so busy, but am so often on the computer, I thought I'd start a blog to keep you apprised of what I'm up to these days. I've been working on getting good pics of my work lately. Here's my latest two pieces.

This was inspired by the ocean while I was sitting on the beach in OBX. The waves were incredibly rough that day, and I could see horses running in them. So I sketched it out as I sat in my chair.

Racing The Waves

It measures 16" x 12.5" graphite on smooth Bristol board.

It is available for $200.00 unframed. Prints are also available on my website.

I found a beautiful picture of these horses in a barn and just had to create my interpretation. When I look at it, I imagine them looking at someone entering the barn getting ready to start their "Morning Meeting."
